Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated

Wednesday evening. I feel as though I've been run over several times, but it does appear that I will live. I credit my recovery to drinking lots of water and having a diet Pepsi Slurpee every night before bed. Yum!

Sadly, since my life for the last few days has consisted of Kleenex and Robitussin, I don't have much to write about. I did get the last of the Christmas presents wrapped and those for my nephews boxed and ready to go, so I'm feeling a little more positive about the holiday possibilities. For a few, possibly Nyquil induced, moments, I was ready to cancel either Christmas with my parents (this Sunday) or the VLSCI Holiday Party (this Saturday). Basically, my fear was that I wasn't going to be able to get everything done around the house in order to have the parents over if I also wanted to go to the party Saturday night. I think I've managed to get enough done today, even while resting and drinking lots of fluids, that I can clean up the rest of it Friday night and Saturday morning, get to the hair salon at 2pm, check into the hotel at 4pm, do something spectacular with my makeup, get dressed, catch a taxi, and still stroll into the convention center for cocktails at 6pm. I would have liked to have a professional do my makeup (I don't use enough because I'm always afraid I'll look cheap), but, such is life! Then we party, party, visit, flirt (innocent, I assure you!), dance, and get back to the hotel a little after midnight. We wake up, chipper and ready to face the day, eat our room service breakfast, check out, head back to the house where Mom and Dad arrive to celebrate the holidays at about 11am. We probably won't be having the lovely little brunch I was planning to make (unless I get everything made Saturday morning before I leave), but lunch out is always nice, too.

I hope everyone's having a great week. Don't let the holidays ruin your enjoyment of the season!
