A little Spring cleaning
So I've done a little thinking about why I'm not writing as much as I used to and why this site frustrates me so much and what I've come to realize is that, while the old template was wonderful and brought me many kind words, it's a pain to maintain in the New Blogger and it made TypePad seem like the easiest, best option for simplicity's sake. But I've got all of my archives here and this is where I first realized that I could write well on occasion (and then realized how that made me feel), so I don't want to leave. My compromise is that I've converted my template over to the new Blogger standard and will look at getting a professional re-design in the next few months. I know it's a little boring (understatement), but the cleaner look appeals to me right now.
Setting aside for the moment the topic of aesthetics, I'm strangely calm about the wedding preparations (mostly because there are so few) for the ceremony on Friday, but the state of my condo has me nearly frantic with worry. I've got TCF's sister, whom I've never met, coming in tomorrow night at 10:30 p.m. and the place is still a total wreck. The cleaners will come tomorrow, which is good, and I've got to get all of the construction stuff (toolbox, miscellaneous tools, shards of wood panelling laying on the dining room table and floor, new bathroom mirror and wall cabinet still awaiting installation) out of the house and into the back of Esme the Escape so that they can actually clean. Also the toxic household cleaning products that I'm taking to the Environmental Waste facility on Saturday. This is stressing me out.
On the other side of things, they are throwing me a surprise party tomorrow at work. You might wonder why I know about it if it's a surprise and that would be because I asked for a half day off today and a full day tomorrow and panic ensued here at VLSCI. I had to agree to come in for two hours tomorrow, which I happily did. They really went to town with this thing, though, because they even managed to invite TCF (he can't come), so I'm both impressed and really touched. For a bunch of techies, these guys can be surprisingly touchy-feely.

I think the new look is a tremendously positive move. New look, new life. Yay!
